State
Process tree
In pmstate, the directory tree itself: each node owns a slice of state on disk, as an append-only event log or a JSON table.
Most agent frameworks keep process state as opaque blobs in a vector store or a workflow engine. Here the folders and files are the state, so an agent navigates, reads, spawns and prunes the same way a person navigates a project folder.
A log is append-only JSON lines, one event per line, which a person can read with cat and see exactly what the agent saw. A table is a JSON document for reference data that changes slowly.
